SF Marina is an internationally recognized for providing its customers a century of experience producing tailor-made premium marinas and advanced floating solutions all over the world.
SF Marina System AB offers a full range of marine related services throughout the whole world. The company has the in-house knowledge and experience to design, permit, manufacture, install, and operate marinas. SF Marina System AB is a fully integrated corporation that understands the needs of the marina industry and can deliver the best marine products in the world to satisfy those needs. The products are the Swedish floating concrete pontoon marina system, designed by SF Marina System AB, which originated back in the 1920’s.
SF MARINA AND SF GROUP
SF Marina System AB is based in Gothenburg, Sweden with affiliates in more than twenty countries, making up a world-wide network of representatives selling the products, some of them also manufacturing under license.
Today, SF Marina System AB and its affiliates have completed over 500 installations since 1983.
The company is familiar with and has completed installations in climatic conditions ranging from North of the Arctic Circle to the Tropics. The company’s premier products are the full concrete floating pontoons in various sizes, which we can then match with different types of finger piers for many applications.
In the vast majority of cases (over 90%) our pontoons are installed on mooring systems of chains and anchors which are designed specifically for the site conditions. Our chain mooring systems are being successfully used in daily tidal ranges of twenty feet with higher annuals and storm conditions.
Operating in more than 50 countries SF Marina has delivered more than 1000 marina references worldwide.
QUALITY
All concrete floats and breakwaters are with very few exceptions custom built. SF Marina builds each pontoon according to a shop drawing which is signed by the customer before manufacturing. Production takes place with strict adherence to the SF Marina quality control program.
ONLY WHEN TESTED BY THE STORM
YOU CAN TRULY ENJOY THE WIND
After casting and fitting of auxiliary equipment, each pontoon is inspected, tested in water and freeboard is checked. After the completion of inspection and testing, the inspector signs the quality certificate, which is delivered with every pontoon.
PRODUCTION
Our main production site is located in Wallhamn, on the Swedish west coast. The factory is located in an international seaport and has access to a deep-water quay which allows the pontoons to be loaded directly onto a trans-atlantic delivery ship. Pontoons up to 250 tons have been shipped out without any problems.
WHERE INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUE
MEETS GENUINE CRAFTSMANSHIP
All of our pontoons can be built in at this production site alternatively, manufacturing can be done at any of our world-wide licensed factories. Sometimes SF Marina regulated production sites are built close to each respective market to lower the cost and the environmental impact of transport. Today there are approximately 20 production sites around the world, operating according to local regulations, and building according to SF Marina drawings, technology and standards.
MODERNISATION AND REMODELLING
We believe that a premium marina should guarantee long lasting safety, comfort and reliability for a minimum of 50 years. Our marinas can be trusted through changing times, in even the most challenging conditions. Our marinas are built with pontoons in a modular system. The pontoons have a very long design life. It is very common that the marina layout develops under a 50-year time period. Layout changes can then easily be done with little environmental impact, which is a big advantage compared to a fixed pier.
SF Marina is increasingly called upon to solve modernisation and remodelling issues at existing marinas. Remodelling and renovation plans are key strategic decisions that impact on the sustainability of a marina life cycle. Old marinas experience increasing maintenance costs and face difficulties in matching the high expectations of today’s yacht owners with inadequate facilities. The wrong marina berth configuration can also hinder the growth of a business and, in the worst cases, outdated marina equipment and continuous repairs can turn profits to losses. By comparison, remodelling and upscaling an existing marina can significantly improve the revenue stream and profitability of the same footprint.
New trends affect the physical configurations of marinas, with increasing demand for larger berths, greater stability and load bearing capacity for pontoons, more powerful utilities, waste-handling systems and the desire for non-corrosive materials.
SF Marina professionals make detailed assessments covering pontoon structures, moorings, underwater parts and pontoon anchoring.
SF Marina gives an expert evaluation regarding the marina´s condition and maintenance needs and reassures the marina operator about the safety and functionality of the marina. Condition Assessment is a basis for long term maintenance and investment planning and it facilitates long term budgeting.
SF Marina Modernisation service is a solution for existing marinas that prolongs the life of the marina and increases its revenues. Service level and profitability can be significantly increased by updating the marina structures and berth configuration.
- Remodelling the marina lay out to optimise the use of space and revenue
- Upscaling the mooring equipment to match the current clientele and yacht size
- Renewing and upgrading decking materials and surfaces
- Improving the service level: upgrading or overhauling service utilities, lighting, waste collection and recycling
- Modernising anchoring
- Uplifting the general ambience and customer experience in the marina
TECHNOLOGY
Absorbing wave energy without damage to the structure is the challenge. Based on storm-proven technology in the design of pontoons and connectors, all installations need to be customized to suit currents, tides, wave exposure and a number of other site-specific conditions. What sets SF Marina apart is that above and beyond these conditions, each project we build is designed with a survival mode. SF Marina is still there, after the storm.
TECHNOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY
– KNOWING THE FORCE OF NATURE
Our technology consists of three equally important parts:
A) Strong pontoons – State of the art reinforcement for load distribution.
B) Strong connectors – Unique range of in-house developed connectors for every application.
C) Engineered anchoring – Designed to match each pontoon in every given location.
SF Marina will, for every location, design, produce and install your project using our comprehensive,
well-tested product range and our vast experience to guarantee your project the longest possible
lifetime, with minimum maintenance costs.
This will give you the lowest possible Life Cycle Cost (LCC) for your project.
INNOVATION
Innovation thrives within SF Marina and always has done. What would happen if one could replace steel as reinforcement with something non-corrosive?
HARNESS THE FIRE
TO CONTROL THE SEA
A couple of years ago we asked ourselves this question and a long process was started. After a couple of years of development, a patent was applied for covering a new production method using Basalt as reinforcement. Basalt is volcanic rock formed from the rapid cooling of lava. Basalt Rebar reinforcement is an alternative to steel for reinforcing concrete, basalt rebar is tough, stronger than steel and has a higher tensile strength. Basalt rebar is naturally resistant to alkali, rust and acids, therefore perfect for marine environments.
SF Marina today proudly offers two different product lines based on this new, patented, technology, SF Marina ProDock and SF Marina X-line. In both of these product lines the advantages of non-corrosive Basalt reinforcement are exploited to the limit, resulting in low weight, high freeboard, low transport costs and exceptional lifetime expectancy.
